Garden & Landscape Design
For nearly thirteen years we have designed and built beautiful, practical, award-winning gardens and planting schemes for both private clients and diverse organisations including Ford, Volkswagen, Trebah Gardens and the London Underground.
Our portfolio of work is not limited to any one particular design style but varies according to the location and the wants and needs of the client. We create contemporary designs with a traditional twist, making use of exquisite natural materials and reclaimed objets d’art.
Our practice took awards in California at the CCLA Annual State-wide Trophy Awards: 1st place for a ‘Modern Mediterranean Retreat’ in 2006, followed by an Outstanding Achievement Award for ‘Hawaiian Tropics’ in Venice, California, in 2007. Matt has been a key part of the design team and, as a project manager, took gold medals at various shows including Southport ’09 and Hampton Court Palace ’10.
We tackle a wide range of sites, from tiny urban basements to rural gardens over an acre in size, and provide expert advice for clients, whether they need a broad landscape master plan or help with plants and planting design.
Most of our work is in Southern England but we also undertake special commissions in the rest of the U.K. Wherever you are, please feel free to contact us for advice.
Approach
Great gardens are never created alone; we embrace a co-operative approach, developing the design together with our clients, taking full account of their wants, needs, tastes, and budget. Where appropriate we also relish the opportunity to work with artists, other designers, contractors, and craftsmen.
We strive to fashion sensitive designs, responding to both our clients’ needs and the individual ‘terroir’, forging links with interiors, architecture, and the surrounding landscape wherever possible to create captivating, sustainable gardens that have a distinct atmosphere. A fierce practical and functional ethos underpins all that we do.
Excellence in design and quality is always our benchmark; we seek to promote the use of natural sustainable materials from British fabricators, manufacturers, and suppliers, wherever possible.
Fees
For clarity we like to agree all fees at the start of a project. Fees are based on the quantity and complexity of the work required. Travel expenses and other disbursements will be clearly itemised.
If you live within Devon and Cornwall initial consultations are free of charge unless a lot of travelling is required. If you live outside these areas a small fee is charged for the initial consultation. This will be deducted from any design work should you wish to continue with our service.
We are more than happy to discuss any potential projects so please do get in touch.
Fees are available on application.
